Find Ur Feet

If your child enjoys learning the musical theatre routines which are occasionally taught at Streetz Ahead Dance Academy, then they will love being part of Find Ur Feet Theatre School. The project–based curriculum is designed to reflect a real-life environment while encouraging pupils to explore their own creativity and passions and most importantly, have fun.

We present whole musicals such as Mamma Mia, Annie, Oliver, Hairspray, Grease, to name but a few, on stage in a full theatre production, in a thrilling finale to celebrate the end of each academic year.

Pupils aged 4-18 years, at all level of ability, are welcome to the Saturday school and will be coached in:

Acting Technique * Song interpretation * Rudiments of Ballet/ Tap/ Jazz/ Theatre and Street dance * Private Voice instruction * Musical Theatre audition technique *  Performance technique * Musical Theatre showcase of the final year project * Life skills * Building Confidence * Individual Audition Portfolios.

Not all children want to make a career in the performing arts, and many come to make new friends whilst building confidence in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Our distinguished faculty members, including guest teachers and speakers when appropriate, give invaluable tuition and guidance. Their first-hand experience ranges through a diverse spectrum: commercial dance work, theatre, video, Sky Sports Dance Squad, Pineapple Dance Studios, as well as backing singing for various artists including Blue, Atomic Kitten, and the Bee Gees. Television credits include work on variety shows such as The Generation Game, 20 Stone Idiot, Johnny Vegas, Channel 4 and popular TV programmes such as Holby City, The Bill, Eastenders and X Factor. Film work includes Kevin and Perry, Bridget Jones’ Diary, and Shiner with Michael Caine, Longitude with Jeremy Irons, and Derailment with Julie Roberts, to name but a few.

The drama class focuses on games to strengthen acting techniques, script work and improvisation, which develops more self-assurance and helps pupils become confident and stage ready. Alongside our singing coach Katrice Copeland, we would like to welcome Nicola Bright-Thomas, a leading vocal coach and singing teacher, and April Briggs and guest teacher Dean Wright to our staff.

There are many chances to perform if pupils want to participate, but this is not compulsory – opportunities for live performance in local shows and other aspects of the arts are there for you to engage in if you wish to.

We prepare each pupil in individual audition pieces so they are ready to try out for roles in the industry. We enjoy a long-established relationship with Brookes & Mills Entertainment Agency (BAM), who have represented many pupils from our school both through their agency and live on Spotlight, leading to employment opportunities in television, film, theatre and other media.

After a successful first year with our school’s Mamma Mia stage production, we followed this with an ambitious full-scale show of Queen’s We Will Rock You, which had the audience radio Gaga-ing in the aisles.

Now in our 4th successful year, and in our own premises Dancescape Studios, our annual show for 2014 was a Variety Show of West End favourites and Disney Classics. Pupils performed pieces from Oliver, Annie, Grease, Hairspray, Les Miserables, Bugsy Malone, Chicago to name but a few, as well as singing their hearts out to Frozen. A show pact with singing, drama and dance, with pupils shining as they always do, performing to an even higher standard than last year! Well done to all of you!!

Weekly Classes are held at Dancescape Studios, 21A Howard Business Park, Waltham Abbey. EN9 1XE.
