The Vision For The Future
Michelle is in the final stages of spearheading Dream Ahead Foundation for Performing Arts. Capitalizing on over thirty years of dancing and years of teaching, she would like to be able to have a more far-reaching effect than has so far been possible with the Academy alone. It has become apparent how powerful such a simple, fun activity, such as dance, can be life-changing, in terms of childrens’ development, co-ordination, confidence, social skills and health. The focus is mostly on school children, but the Foundation also caters for all ages in the community.
The aims of the Foundation are to source and provide critical financial support alongside creative development. Without the restraints imposed by lack of funding, scholarships/bursaries, a Travel Fund and an Emerging Talent Award will give opportunities to those who otherwise would have to miss out. A chance to go for Higher Education in the Arts, and /or a career in the Industry could be more of a reality for young talented performers. The Foundation’s aim in providing financial assistance for pupils is to help them to fulfill their dreams.
In 2011 we celebrated the milestone of the 10th year anniversary of the Academy, as we head into our 14th year, Michelle is hoping to establish more for the pupils.
The success of the 2012 IFDPA Championship’s “Take Us To The Magic” in Euro Disney, Paris, highlighted Michelle’s wish to take more groups of pupils on trips abroad, to enjoy the exhilaration of performing to international audiences and to broaden their experience.
Since her first class when she was 3years old, Michelle has relished the thrill of a dance class and the challenge of a new routine. She always wants to be the first one through the door!
